Upcoming September Activities!

Here's a small sample of the great opportunities we have at Three Rivers every week!

Tuesday, Sept. 1 – Prairie Seed Collection, Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve, 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Help restore our prairie by collecting native wildflower seed to plant in more than 1,200 acres of restored prairie maintained by Three Rivers.

Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, Sept. 5 – Monday, Sept. 7 – Living History Event, The Landing, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The past comes alive with costumed interpreters and interactive demonstrations throughout the park. Play games, tour craft and farm exhibits, watch artisans and food preservation techniques.

Sunday, Sept. 6 – Wild Tea Sampler, Eastman Nature Center, 1 – 4 p.m. Sample some wild, weedy (but tasty) teas made from plants found near your backyard.

Thursday, September 10 – Gallery Reception for "New Legible Geologies and Again, Forever" show at Silverwood Park, 6–8 p.m. Mingle with Liz Ensz during the opening reception of her latest exhibition, and see the unveiling of Aaron Dysart’s addition to the sculpture trail.

Saturday, September 12 – Mississippi River Fest and Heritage Day, Kroening Interpretive Center, 1–4:30 p.m. Meet a bald eagle and other raptors, climb a tree to see the river from new heights, catch dragonflies, try fishing, play historical games and participate in river-themed activities and crafts. Make popcorn over the fire and walk along the National Park Service’s Giant River Map.
