Thursday, April 2 – Walk When the Moon is Full, Richardson Nature Center, 7:30 – 9 p.m. The trees are waking up! Fill your senses on a spring night hike. Identify trees and search for creatures relying on them.

Friday, April 3 – Egg Trail and Rabbit Habits, Richardson Nature Center, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Hunt for colorful wooden eggs and fact-filled rabbits on a non-competitive hike. Have fun and learn about birds, eggs, nests and rabbits. See live animals and discover which ones come from eggs. Create a craft and enjoy a snack. Reservations required. Twenty percent discount for groups of four or more.

Saturday, April 4 – First Saturdays: Wetland Adventure, Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park, 10 a.m. – noon. Explore the unique, wet environments of a marsh and floodplain forest. Search for frogs and toads, watch for birds, and identify interesting plants. Reservations required. Twenty percent discount for groups of four or more.

Saturday, April 4 – Geocaching for Eggs, Cleary Lake Regional Park, 9 – 11 a.m. Learn geocaching basics and then use your new skills hunting for eggs! Reservations required. Twenty percent discount for groups of four or more.

Saturday, April 4 – Victorian Easter Egg Roll, The Landing, noon – 3 p.m. Celebrate with the family! Make a miniature basket and decorate a wooden egg. Participate in an egg and spoon race, bunny hop relay, and authentic egg roll. Play with old-fashioned toys and games, and explore the banks of the Minnesota River Valley. Refreshments served in the Town Hall. Bring a camera. Twenty percent discount for groups of four or more.

Sunday, April 5 – Camouflage Bunny Hike, Lowry Nature Center, 1 – 4 p.m. Search for camouflaged wooden bunnies along the trail and make a craft inside. Drop in anytime. Free event.

Saturday, April 11 – Ferns and Greens (six sessions), Silverwood Park, 9:30 a.m. – noon. Ferns are an ancient species. Discover their morphology and illustrate a single fern leaf. Expand your knowledge of nature’s most prominent color, green. Learn to mix over 150 shades of green with just nine watercolors.

Saturday, April 11 – Elf and Fairy Houses, Kroening Interpretive Center, 10 a.m. – noon. There’s magic in the woods along the river. Explore in search of elf and fairy homes. Collect materials to create a house to take home. Reservations required.

Saturday, April 11 – Orienteering Skills Clinic, French Regional Park, noon – 3:30 p.m. Learn map and compass skills from Minnesota Orienteering Club (MNOC) experts. Families and people of all abilities learn through classroom instruction, skill stations geared for beginners, guided practice courses, and an official “sprint” course with electronic punching. Cosponsored by MNOC.

Sunday, April 12 – Nature-based Engineering: Water Edition, Eastman Nature Center, 1 – 2:30 p.m. Try engineering challenges. Let your creativity shine while designing and building structures to meet specific goals. All supplies provided. Reservations required. Twenty percent discount for groups of four or more.
