Trail projects now underway

mqdefault.jpgCheck out this video link or click on my photo to learn about the trail projects we have underway at Three Rivers to help meet the dramatic growth in use we are seeing every year, and to insure the safety of those who travel our 300 miles of trails.

Produced by LMCC Community Television, I was on the Lake Minnetonka LRT Trail in Shorewood to talk about our safe bridge project over Co Rd 19. With federal funding now secured, planning is underway and construction will take place next year with minimal disruption, since the bridge will be “dropped into place.”

The city of Deephaven’s project to replace their Vine Hill Road bridge is necessary, but will be more disruptive next Spring for our Lake Minnetonka LRT Trail users; we have requested the city construction try to avoid our peak Summer season. I'm also happy to let you know that our new Nine Mile Creek Trail through Edina is now expected to be built two years sooner than planned, thanks to our partnerships with Edina and the Met Council!

A future post will detail the outreach efforts we have initiated with the equestrian and snowmobile communities to help with our future trail planning. Finally, I am very pleased that our recent acquisition of Camp Kingswood in Minnetrista, largely with state Legacy funding, will preserve 106 acres of pristine land for future generations, and also provide a critical link for a future north-south trail to connect our Luce Line & Dakota Rail Regional Trails.

I hope to see you on the trails!
