New Explorer Camp outreach initiative

54a2fb99f2cfd.image.jpgThree Rivers is launching an exciting new Explorer Camp outreach initiative to provide affordable and accessible nature-focused experiences in partnership with local agencies and communities. The unique program will help hundreds of kids explore nature and experience our great parks and programs through day camps designed to reach children who otherwise might not be able to participate in our programs. The camps will be held in communities with less access to Three Rivers programs and facilities, and participants will enjoy a variety of outdoor activities like: birds, bugs, archery, trees, survival skills, biking, climbing wall, pond study, animal signs, and much more.

Thirteen camps are planned for this summer, geared toward kids, youth and seniors, in such first-tier communities as: Golden Valley and Robbinsdale Parks & Rec, Hopkins Activity Center, Edina Parks & Rec, New Hope Parks & Rec, Brooklyn Park Parks & Rec, Meadowbrook Manor (St. Louis Park), and African Challenges Corporation. The Explorer Camps will run from mid-June to October, and are being supported by the Three Rivers Park District Foundation with their generous donation of $25,000.
