Cross country skiing is open!

All five kilometers of our newly completed Hyland cross-country ski trail are now open, thanks to our dedicated crews working non-stop on the inaugural snowmaking! Our new 5K lighted trail with snowmaking is one of only ten such facilities in the entire country.

Three Rivers has been a leading provider of cross-country skiing in Minnesota for more than four decades, dating back to Hyland’s hosting of the National Nordic Ski Championships in January 1973. In fact, Explore Minnesota Tourism recently selected our newest trail as one of only ten iconic locations for its statewide winter scavenger hunt called Checkpoint MN.

Early season snowfalls have also allowed other Three Rivers cross country ski areas to open, so be sure to check out current conditions at each of these areas before heading out.

In one particularly innovative partnership, Three Rivers and the city of Minnetonka provide a cross country ski trail each winter at the Glen Lake Golf Course. Using the golf course’s natural landscape, the 2.5-kilometer cross country trail provides skiers of all levels and abilities with a dedicated trail groomed exclusively for both ski skating and traditional skiing.
